imagination.

Imagination.

Ingenuity.

Understanding, and being inspired by, human nature.

There is more to writing than just putting words together. Writing comes from something else, something that pushes the limit to create a profound comprehension of the world and a certain clarity of thought. Writing is notoriously personal, and is, in its highest achievement, universal. Ideally, it should be both.

A writer is responsible for the obvious task of communicating an idea or occurrence, but a grander mission might be one of connection - bringing one person closer to another by reporting on what it means and feels like to be human. To live in this sometimes confusing world with one another, and still have enough insight to tell about it. To let a person know that they are not alone in a thought, a dream, an idea.

A writer, after all, holds a strange sort of power in the written word. It can be sweet. It can be dangerous. Nonetheless, it must always be true.
